Our core commitment
ChatPrune was designed with privacy as a priority. Your conversation content is never stored on our servers. Here is exactly what happens to your data.
What ChatPrune Processes
When you use ChatPrune, you upload an export file from Claude and/or ChatGPT containing your conversation history. This may include:
- Conversation titles and message content
- Dates of conversations
- Platform source (Claude, ChatGPT, or other)
How Your Data Is Handled
Here is exactly what happens to your data when you use ChatPrune:
📂You upload your export file
Your file is read directly in your browser. It does not get sent to our servers at this step.
🔄Conversations are analysed
Your conversation content is sent in small batches to our secure proxy, which forwards it to Google Gemini AI for analysis. We do not log or store your conversations.
📥You must download your results
Before you can view your results, you must download a file containing your full conversation text, recommendations, and any privacy risks found. This is the only complete copy, since we do not keep your conversation content on our servers.
📊Results come back to you
The AI analysis is returned to your browser. Your conversation content is not kept anywhere after this.
🔒Privacy risk scanning
As part of our Privacy Risk feature, we scan your conversations for accidentally shared sensitive information, such as passwords, API keys, phone numbers, and addresses, and flag these for you. This scanning happens using the conversation text already in your browser.
📝Consolidated notes
Notes you create through consolidation are not saved on our servers. After consolidation, you must download an updated results file containing your notes. We only store a record that a group has notes, not the note content itself.
🏷️Your tags and decisions
The status you choose for each conversation, and any tags you add or edit, are saved with us against your ChatPrune licence key. This lets your choices persist even if you close your browser or your session expires.
📋Download tracking
We keep a record of the file names and download times for files you download, such as your results ZIP, Decisions, Report, and Notes files. This is for record keeping and to help us understand how features are used, and so we can help you if you contact support about a file you cannot find. We do not have access to the contents of any of the files.
Licence and Payment Data
Payments are not currently live. If you join the paid-access waitlist, we store your name and email address so we can notify you when paid access opens.
Your email address may be used to respond to support requests or notify you of significant product updates. Your email address will not be sold or shared with third parties.
Data You Choose to Save
Files such as Download Decisions (a CSV file), Download Report (a text file), Notes (a text file) or Your Results (a ZIP file) are only saved to your own device. ChatPrune has no access to any of these files.
Cookies and Tracking
ChatPrune does not use cookies, analytics scripts, advertising trackers, or any third-party tracking technology. The landing page does not currently use analytics of any kind. If this changes in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect it.
Children's Privacy
ChatPrune is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 16 years of age.
Your Rights (Australia)
Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988, you have the right to request access to any personal information we hold about you (which is limited to your email and purchase details), and to request correction of that information. To make a request, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
Material changes will be reflected with an updated date above. Continued use of ChatPrune after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
